Sometimes you see a friend in need and you wish to help, but worry they will refuse your offer out of pride, a fear of burdening you, or a fear of what accepting help may imply.
It becomes all the more frustrating when you see them headed down a very dark road, a road that has some very unpleasant side paths with permanent dead ends. Yet all you can do is offer a hand, hoping that your assistance won't be too little, too late.
